about

For 2013, The Grimm Generation presents 13 indie fairy tales dealing with love and death and chasing the big fame.

'The Big Fame', the second full length release by the acclaimed Grimm Generation (www.thegrimmgeneration.com) captures the sound of a band discovering its full power. Lyrics so lean, they cut. A reckless spin in the sound, absolutely familiar but not easy to define. This is what Rock and Roll sounds like in 2013 and The Grimm Generation is a Rock and Roll band.

Track Name: Earthquake, Hurricane, Flood And You
Earth was shaking, whipping hurricanes
Then the flood, and You
What can you do
when the Universe has something to tell you?
Hit the files, the old cases
Heady lines with picture chasers
And all you keep; The memories squatter

It’s a new day in an old year
Its a new dress with a small tear
And maybe they're right
That they are the apple and we are the bite
Its someones job to blow out the stars
Take my hand Love, it may be ours
Im ready to do it
How about you?

French Pop plays from a cracked 78
Villagers storm the gates
Long kisses and boiling oils
Dark things see the light and recoil

And were growing into something that's beyond the sum of our parts
With heartbeats that kick in fits and starts

First the Earthquake. Then the hurricane, Then the Flood. And You. (X2)

Now were walking in the daylight
No more nights, hands of sleight
Drop the masks, reveal our faces
No more big talk in small spaces
The Heart wants, the head chases
Choose your weapon...20 paces
Im willing to fire.
How about you?

French Pop plays from a cracked 78
Villagers storm the gates
Long kisses and boiling oils
Dark things see the light and recoil

And were growing into something that's beyond the sum of our parts
With heartbeats that kick in fits and starts

First the Earthquake. Then the hurricane, Then the Flood. And You. (X2)
Track Name: The Next Indie Boy
I’m keeping the music
The bands that you love
And way more zombie knowledge than a girl could dream of
I learned how to dress in shifty locations
Heirlooms, mismatched china, in rotation
Till the next indie boy comes singing along
Within nothing else but the ballsiest of convictions
He’ll get to love me all the more
Its gonna be your next hit on the radio

As I ensure your night remains your night
Uninterrupted
I get on my flight
Its your touch babe, I’ve lost affection
And I cant shake it
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it

Give it to me now your sweet affection
Cause who the Hell is paying any attention?
Im curling my hair, just a bit different
But its your work shirt I keep on moving around
Keep on moving around

As I ensure your night remains your night
Uninterrupted
I get on my flight
Its your touch babe, I’ve lost affection
And I cant shake it
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it

So while you traffic in miscalculation
Pretty girls all in a line
Im watching this time

Give it to me now your sweet affection
Cause who the Hell is paying any attention?

As I ensure your night remains your night
Uninterrupted
I get on my flight
Its your touch babe, I’ve lost affection
And I cant shake it
Shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it
Track Name: Dizzy In My Hips Swinging
You have little troubles spilling
The black kettle rolls
It’s a tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap
You have fallen out of time
Dropped out of the groove
Who’s pitching the woo?

You always said, “Just enjoy.”
Yes, I’m drinking it all in
The planets are aligned just right
And when those planets take position
It’s a spin
It’s a spin, spin, spin, spin, spin

Any last requests?
You make easy entertaining
As easy as my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips
Dizzy in my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips

Are you scared?
Are your ears ringing?
Who’s your accessory?
It’s a big solar system
Astronomy
It won’t stand
It won’t stand

Watch the way I get things done
You’re a watcher
I like that
Ends in a perfect stance
Score is 10
Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap

Any last requests?
You make easy entertaining
As easy as my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips
Dizzing in my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips

Quite a ways to go
To know what you already know
And not hide it, let it show, let it show
Its science
And its a fiction

You always said, “Just enjoy.”
Yes, I’m drinking it all in
The planets are aligned just right
And when those planets take position
It’s a spin
It’s a spin, spin, spin, spin, spin

Any last requests?
You make easy entertaining
As easy as my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips
Dizzy in my hips swinging
Dizzy in my hips
Track Name: House Drinks
What am I going to do?
No more hiding from you
My act is exceptionally clean
You can see right through
What do you think?
What do you think?
Are you worried now more or less?

I stay faithful to the emptiness
To the loneliness
Forever beholden
And we spin back and forth
Spin back and forth
Never locked down

And we ache with it
And I can only think that in time
They’ll be a lesson
Don’t you think?

Chorus:
Tomorrow I am an orphan
Everything else disappears
The house drinks when it’s time for commentary
But it’s too late, it’s too late
And I shade it in pencil
And you print it in ink

I’m uncomfortable
I’m unconscious
You’re a memory
Anonymous
And I’m always looking for a place to stand
Out of the way (out of the way)
Insignificant
And constant
And it doesn’t change it (it doesn’t change it)
Hold onto your heart
Put it on display
Get wrecked anyway

Chorus:
Tomorrow I am an orphan
Everything else disappears
The house drinks when it’s time for commentary
But it’s too late, it’s too late
And I shade it in pencil
And you print it in ink

(Solo bridge)

How am I gonna get through this?
I won’t let go
You don’t let go
Track Name: Until Then
Until then
I’m going to pass the time
Flip off the world
Get it down word for word
I didn’t know
I didn’t know I didn’t know you
How did I miss that?
It’s later than we think
And there’s a kink in my neck
And there’s a crack in your armor
And I’m more than a little distressed
Looking out for tomorrow
And I don’t know who’s apologizing to whom
Anymore
Any more than I know
That I don’t know
Anything
Except I want
Want to lay naked
Inside your warmth
Wouldn’t that be something?
Some kind of easy choice
It’s so easy for the rest of them
Not for the restless
It makes me jealous
It makes me cry
Until then
Track Name: Quiet (St. Francis)
Sitting in the hospital waiting room
Stacks of The New Yorker by my side
I write your name in ink on the palm of my hand
I don’t want to forget
Fire alarms sounding off
A slow-motion promenade
Past the engine man
The smoke is escaping my lips

The fur from my coat
On the orange plastic seat
Brushes my leg
And it’s reminds me
That my skirt is too short
And your hand isn’t there
No, your hand isn’t there
It isn’t there

The polished floor is a speckled egg
Boots perfectly perched atop
I’m waiting for word
For someone to say it’s going to be all right
They are fixing the things
I cannot fix
But right before me everything is falling apart

The fur from my coat
On the orange plastic seat
Brushes my leg
and it’s reminds me
That my skirt is too short
And your hand isn’t there
No, you’re hand isn’t there
It isn’t there

When I was younger, I was so strong
When I was younger, I was so strong

On the other side of the sheet
Is a world that seeks less privacy
Fireworks, sex and hysterical fits
Voicemails checked on speakerphone
To no good cause or effect
Check the monitors
Quiet
Slow
They are there to be healed
Recuperate
And on this side of the curtain
Everything is falling apart

The fur from my coat
On the orange plastic seat
Brushes my leg
And it’s reminds me
That my skirt is too short
And your hand isn’t there
No, you’re hand isn’t there
It isn’t there
Track Name: Road To Joy
Slip a message directly into the bloodstream
Its a good night full of cheap dreams
You can dress them up to deep schemes
But at the end of the night, they get naked
Repeatedly

Take a shot of the direct stuff
The kinda stuff that brings the Sun up
But its not enough (its never enough)
It comes with a conscience and it likes the rough stuff

Options number the thousands
Breathe...take a new view
Living with reason is killing you
And leads you no closer
To the Road To Joy

Sing a song, if just to makes sure you’re breathing
And check yourself, you might be bleeding
Steady...Steady
Into the breach

Or get your kicks from the old tricks
Skin on skin and incense sticks
Candle powered conflicts
Gods Benefit, The Direct Fix

Options number the thousands
Breathe...take a new view
Living with reason is killing you
And leads you no closer
To the Road To Joy
Track Name: Real Bad Voodoo
The thing about it is
Youve made some improvements because of me
Why those are better glasses
And i dig that cool new hat
Youve given up some habits
I like you alot like that
Doing me favors now I could only imagine before
Such a shame I've washed up under that bridge
But I've started to sleep again without you
Like a hippie using the side door

But it too late you see
Ive changed a few things too
And one of those things is I'm done with you
Do you hear me?
Im all done with you

It was supposed to be
The best, the one
The big breakthrough
And it gave me something I never really knew
It wasn't me and it wasn't you
It was a toss of the dice
Some real bad voodoo
And Im thinking twice and I have to tell you

But it too late you see
Ive changed a few things too
And one of those things is I'm done with you
Do you hear me?
Im all done with you

Its a brand new door, a wing and a prayer
Except nobody prays anymore around here
You could do me no wrong
I want you hear forever...
But forever is this song...

So if you dont mind, please check your hat
Take off your glasses, I dont recall you like that
When I come through town I only want to remember
How it was supposed to be....the beautiful December
How it was supposed to be...

But it too late you see
Ive changed a few things too
And one of those things is I'm done with you
Do you hear me?
Im all done with you
Track Name: Wreck Of My Bed
Say it like you mean it
Stick and move, stick and move
Make this place waterproof
Whistle a sailors tune
Hoist the flag, and bid adieu
We might not be sinking
but we might be too
Were going down for 72
Deep deep down in the Bonny Blue
Its a good night
With a sketchy crew
Lets tie some knots that we cant undo

And red wines wakes winds and the mast is creaking
When we hit rough waters, the walls start leaking
Outside that door there waits nothing but labors
From The Wreck Of My Bed
And two drunken Sailors...

Its treasure were seeking
And we drag it back home
Though we take to the water
Over and over
Its a compulsion, a need to unbutton
The love sick rovers
This league of loners

(Solo bridge)

Buccaneer, Buccaneer
The end is near
There’s no land here
Don’t think I even care
Let’s own it
Condone it
Burn it. Return it
Give in and learn it
A pirate’s prayer

And red wines wakes winds and the mast is creaking
When we hit rough waters, the walls start leaking
Outside that door there waits nothing but labors
From The Wreck Of My Bed
And two drunken Sailors...
(The wreck of my bed x3)
Track Name: Eye Of Tranquility
I tell you my lucky number
5-4-3-2
And my favorite color
B-L-E-U
With a sleight of hand
A turn of phrase
You unfold all that is awaiting you

I believe in magic and U.F.O.s
The ghosts from your past will trip you up
A perfect song can trump a bad day
And there’s beauty is wine drunk from a crystal cup

I’m superstitious
Auspicious
Cross your fingers
Shuffle the cards
Don’t look away
Not this time
It’s written on your hand
It’s written on mine

That freckle
The one no one sees
It’s an eye of tranquility
It will unhinge you
Round and round we go
If I stops, will we know?

Round and round we go
Each month is a day
Dates quickly slip away
The future is not waiting to be told
It’s spelled out

I’m superstitious
Auspicious
Cross your fingers
Shuffle the cards
Don’t look away
Not this time
It’s written on your hand
It’s written on mine

That freckle
The one no one sees
It’s an eye of tranquility
It will unhinge you
Round and round we go
If I stops, will we know?
Track Name: The Big Fame
My big main streets are often not so main
Haunted alive past midnight
No word from the big fame
You’re no sight for sore eyes
You’re no easy answer
You’re no good to how I’m feeling
Real wounds openly bleeding

Wanna get out of this town
Can’t bear repeating
Old scars barely healing
Each step forward
Less revealing

You’re no one I want to talk to
I’ve done figured you all out

The target is always made of glass
Opponent is always dressed in black
If you can’t control the urge to act
Don’t play this game
Don’t play this game

You’re a skip to a mindless chase
And it’s all color cast
You’re going gray

The ones you love pay you no mind
Revenge keeps doing time
It’s a tired eye that watches

The target is always made of glass
Opponent’s always dressed in black
If you can’t control the urge to act
Don’t play this game
Don’t play this game

Everything you want to do
You do it cuz you want to do
And you need to too

Cuz you work so hard
Someone should benefit
Cuz you work so hard

The target is always made of glass
The opponent’s always dressed in black
If you can’t control the urge to act
Don’t play this game (repeat)
Don’t play this game
